Freeform Review:

Erin Dillon presented a stunning half length work in the Moving Beauty Series on March 15th, 2015. Exploring themes of manipulation and betrayal, the dancers exploded onto the stage with a striking balance of power and fluid movement. The work cascaded through a series of large group works, solos, and intimate moments with only a few dancers. One dancer in particular appeared to be ostracized, though the theme was loosely strung through the piece. A series of shouted numbers paired with abrupt start and stop motions as the dancers fell in and out of line seemed to communicate urgency. A solo toward the end was nearly too long, but so captivating that the dancer held our attention. Dillon went out on a limb to present what I understand to be her first work of this length and succeeded in creating a piece that is both powerfully beautiful and acutely emotional. I can still see it playing in my mind ten days later.
